AMENDMENT OF ZONING ORDINANCE
An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3702, adopted June 13, 1949, and
commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend.
WHEREAS, the real estate hereinafter described is presently zoned as
OB" Residential Use District and ^B° Height and Area District; and
WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission has recommended that the zoning thereof
be changed as hereinafter provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend, Indiana, that Ordinance No. 3702, which Ordinance is commonly known as the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, be amended as follows:
Section 1
The following described real estate situated in the City of South
Bend be and the same is hereby rezoned as „All Residential Use District and
Height and Area District:
Lots numbered 704 to 749 inclusive as shown on the recorded
Plat of Belleville Unit E.
Section 2
This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and legal
publication.

Gentlemen:
The attached Petition of Belleville Investment Company
to zone from "B" Residential to "A1l Residential and "A"
Height and Area District all land abutting Scenic Drive
from Ford Street to Mayflower Road, being Lots 704
through 749 of Belleville Unit "Ell Addition; was legally
advertised under date of 24 December 1956 and given public
hearing under date of 3 January 1957. The following action
was taken:

recommended favorably to the Common Council.

PETITION FOR REZONING
To the Honorable Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Gentlemen:
South Bend, Indiana
November 19, 1956

Belleville Investment Company, Inc., respectfully represents
and alleges:
1.) Petitioner is the owner in fee simple of real estate in
the City of South Bend, Indiana, abutting on Scenic Drive running in a
generally westerly direction from Ford Street to Mayflower Road.
2.) Said real estate is shown on a proposed Plat of Belleville
Unit E as lots numbered 704 to 749 inclusive.
3.) The real estate comprising said numbered lots is presently
zoned as "B" Residential. Petitioner desires to further increase the
potential value of said lots as desirable home sites for the general
public by having the zoning thereof changed to "A" Residential.
4.) Petitioner submits herewith a drawing showing the location
of the lots in question, together with proposed form of ordinance for
the accomplishment of that purpose.
WHEREFORE, petitioner respectfully prays and requests:
1.) That this Common Council refer this petition to the City
Plan Commission for its consideration.
2.) That upon favorable recommendation by the City Plan
Commission, that this Common Council adopt such proposed form of
ordinance for the rezoning of said described territory in the City
of South Bend, Indiana.
