PROVIDING FOR THE RATES OF FARE, AND SECTION 29
THEREOF PROVIDING FOR MONTHLY INSPECTION, ACCURATE
TAXI INTER PREREQUISITE TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSES,
AND PROHIBITION OF DRIVING OF TAXICAB WITH

BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the %City o t h
Bend, Indiana, that Sections 4 and Sections 29 of General Ordi-
nance No. 3709 of the City of South Bend, be amended to read as
follows:
SECTION 4. - -- RATES OF FARE
The rates of fare charged by the owner of any taxicab
shall be as follows:
For the first one -fifth mile or fraction
thereof 45¢
For each succeeding one -half mile
thereafter 10�
Provided, that a taxicab may be hired at the rate of
Three (:3.00) Dollars per hour for driving within the
city when so hired before the trip is begun; provided
further, that for each four minutes of waiting time
there may be a charge of twenty cents (20�). Waiting
time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in
motion, beginning at its arrival at the place to which
it has been called or the time consumed while standing
at the direction of the passenger, but no charge shall be
made for time lost because of the inefficiency of the taxi-
cab or its driver or time consumed by premature response
to a call.
The above charges shall be for one or more persons.
SECTION 29. -- INSPECTION AT REASONABLE INTERVALS;
ACCURAT R PREREQUISITE TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSES;
DRIVING OF TAXICAB PITH UNAPPROVED TAXIMETER PROHIBITED
All taximeters shall be inspected by the Inspector of
Weights and Measures in regard to the regulations herein
set forth at reasonable intervals. No license shall be
issued to the owner of any taxicab until the taximeter
attached thereto shall have been inspected and found to be
accurate, as provided in Section 32 of this chapter, by
the Inspector of Weights and Measures. It shall be
unlawful for any person to drive a taxicab to which is
attached a taximeter that has not been duly inspected and
approved by the Inspector of Weights and Measures, as
above required.
