A/ An Ordinance Providing for the Annexation of Certain Territory.to the City of South Bend, Indiana Be it Ordained by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indi.anat Section 1. That the following described territory in St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, be and the same is hereby annexed to and shall constitute hereafter a part of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Beginning at a point in the Easterly right-of-way line Of Michigan Street (U.S. Highway 31), City of South Bend, Indiana, where the Southerly right- of-way line_of Albert Street projected Bast intersects said Bast right -of -gray line of Michigan Street; thence West along the Southerly right- 6f-vay line of Albert Street to a point in the West- erly right -of -way lino of Main Street where the South line Of Albert Street projected Westerly intersects said Westerly line of Main Stroetj thence Northerly along the Westerly line of Main Street to the present City Limits of the City of South Bondi thence East along the present City Limits line to the Easterly right- of-way line of Michigan-Street; thence Southerly along said Bast right- of-way line of Michi- gan Street to the placa of beginning all in Slation Twenty - five-(2$), Township Thirty -seven (37j North, Range Two (2) Bast in St.. Joseph County, Indiana. Section 29 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and legal publication by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana. That they are the owners of more than 5075 in fee simple of the real estate from Albert Street North to the present City Limits situated between Michigan and Main Streets. 2. That said property is contiguous to the present Southern City Limits of the City of South Bend and is well suited for commercial uses. 3. Petitioners desire that said territory be annexed to and con— statute thereafter a part of the City of South Bend. WHEREFORE, petitioners respectfully pray and request: I. That this Common Council refer this petition to the City Plan Commission for its consideration. 2. That upon favorable recommendation by the City Plan Commission, that this Common Council adopt such proposed form of ordinance for the annexation of said described territory to the City of South Bend, Indiana. HUFF DIRECTOR OF PLANNING The Honorable Common Council City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: December 5, 1957 Under date of 6 June, 1957 the Planning Commission recommended favorably the annexation proposed by Blenke Brothers Realty Company, Inc. The pending petition covers the same area and since there has been no change of conditions in or surrounding said area and referal to the Commission is not legislatively required may I respectfully suggest nonreferal.
