ORDINANCE ANNEXING LANDS TO AND
DECLARING SAME TO BE A PART OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I.
That the following described territory and land in
St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, be and the same is hereby
annexed to and declared to be a part of the said City of South
Bend, Indiana:
Beginning at a point at the NE corner of Sec. 5, T37N, R3E,
,thence south along the east section line of said Sec. 5 a
distance of 737.15 ft., more or less, thence west a distance
of 553.08 ft., more or less, thence north a distance of 736.56
ft., more or less, thence east a distance of 552.16 ft., more
or less, to the point of beginning, containing 913 acres,
more or less; y--�
Also, beginning at a point at the SE corner of the NE4 of Sec.
5, T37N, R3E, thence west along the south line of the NE-4L of
Sec. 5 a distance of 336 ft., more or less, thence north
parallel with east line of said Sec. 5 a distance of 1,312.8
ft., more or less, thence east a distance of 336 ft., more or
less, to the east line of said Sec. 5, thence south along
the east line of said Sec. 5 a distance of 1,312.8 ft., more
or less, to the point of beginning, containing 9.4 acres,
more or less;
Also, beginning at a point at the SE corner of Sec. 5, T37N,
R3E, thence west along the south section line of said Sec. 5
a distance of 1115 ft., more or less, thence north a distance
of 1534 ft., more or less, to a point at the SW corner of
Lot 299, McKinley Terrace Addition Sec. "A ", thence east a
distance of 1145 ft., more or less, thence south along the
east section line of said Sec. 5, a distance of 1534 ft.,
more or less to the point of beginning, containing �0- acres,
more or less.
SECTION II:
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
1st &2nd READI and after its enactment, approval by the Mayor \and legal publication.

Gentlemen:
December 6, 1957
The attached ordinance on aced by the City Planning Commission
to annex approximate) Ll acres In three seperate parcels lying
north of McKinley Blvd., wes of Logan Street and south of Edison
Road to the City of South was legally advertised on I November,
1957 and given public hearing under date of 7 November, 1957. The
following action was taken:
After due consideration The Commission found that:
I. The annexation is in the best interests of the city and
of the territory sought to be annexed.
2. The area is urban in character, being an economic and
social part of the annexing city.
3. The city is financially able to provide municipal ser-
vices to the annexed area within the reasonably near
future.
4. The area sought to be annexed, if undeveloped, is needed
for development of the city in the reasonably near future.
5. The lines of the annexation are so drawn as to form a
compact area abutting the municipality.
It was therefore moved, seconded and unanimously carried
that the attached ordinance be recommended favorably to the
Common Council.
