AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3, 6 and 8 OF CHAPTER
7 OF GENERAL, ORDINANCE NO 3709, WHICH IS AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 2, 5 and 8 OF ARTICLE II OF ORDINANCE
NO 3312 ADOPTED ON THE 8th DAY OF JANUARYF 1940
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Section 1. That Section 3 of Chapter 7 of General Ordinances No. 3709, which
is an ordinance amending Section 2 of Article II of'Ordinance No. 3312
adopted on the 8th day of January, 1940 be and the same is hereby,amended to
read as follows:
The city controller is hereby authorized and directed to issue all
bicycle licenses. No license shall be issued except upon written
application by the person seeking the license and until such appli-
cation has been approved by the chief of police. All licenses issued
under the provisions of this chapter shall expire on March 1st
three years after its issuance.
Section 2. That Section 6 of Chapter 7 of General Ordinance No. 3709, which
is an ordinance amending Section 8 of Article II of Ordinance No. 3312
adopted on the 8th day of January, 1940 be and the same is- hereby amended to
read as follows:
The license fee to be paid for each bicycle shall be twenty -five
cents and each renewal thereof shall be twenty -five cents. All
license fees shall be paid in advance to the city controller at the
time of registration. Upon loss of any license plate, and upon
application and satisfactory evidence of such loss, a new license
shall be issued upon the payment of a fee of twenty -Rive cents.
Section 3. That Section 8 of Chapter 7 of General Ordinance No. 3709, which
is an ordinance amending Section 5 of Article II of Ordinance No. 3312
adopted on the 8th day of January, 1940 be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
The chief of police shall inspect each bicycle previous to regis-
tration and he shall have the authority to refuse to approve any such
bicycle found by him to be not properly equipped or in unsafe
mechanical condition.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council, its approval by the Mayor and the fulfillment
of all statutory requirements relating thereto.
