ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2243 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE
BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND MORE
PARTICULARLY REPEARLING SECTION 37a AND ANY AMEND14ENTS THERETO,
KNOWN AS THE SECTION ESTABLISHING FEES FOR BUILDING PERMITS,
AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 37a ON THE SAME
SUBJECT, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT.
WHEREAS, all municipal administration costs have increased
greatly since permit fees were last established, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate and necessary to modify
said permit fees in order to partially compensate for said in-
creased costs;
NO1110 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I. That Section 37a of the Building Code of the City
of South Bend., Inciana, be and the same is hereby repealed,,
and a new Section known by the same number and on the same sub-
ject pertaining to fees for Building Permits is hereby enacted
in lieu thereof and shall read as follows:
SECTION 37a FEES FOR PERMIT
The fees charged for the issuing of permits by the Building
Department, not otherwise provided for in this Code, shall be
paid at the time the permit is issued and shall be as follows:
For buildings of Type 1 construction, the fee shall be five
cents (5y) for each one hundred cubic feet (100 cu, ft.) of vo-
lume or fraction thereof.
For buildings of Types 2, 3, and 4 construction, the fee
shall be four cents (40) for each one hundred cubic feet (100
cu, ft.) of volume or fraction thereof.
For buildings of Type 5 construction the fees shall be six
cents (6¢) for each one hundred cubic feet (100 cuo ft.) of
volume or fraction thereof.

For the purpose of determining fees predicted on volume,
said volume shall be computed from the lowest point of the
foundation to the mid -point between the eaves and the ridge of
/ gable roofs, and from the lowest point of the foundation to
the tip of the roof for flat roofs.
For open shelter sheds the fee shall be ten cents (10�) for
each one hundred square feet (100 sq. ft.) or fraction thereof
of ground area, plus one dollar ($1.00).
For alterations and'repairs not otherwise provided for, for
roof repairs, reroofing, tanks, towers, platforms, stacks, and
other miscellaneous buildings and structures not included in
the preceding schedule and.for which volumes cannot be computed,
the fee shall be two dollars ($2.00) for the first one thousand
dollars (41,000.00) of cost or fraction thereof, one dollar
and fifty cents ($1,:50) for each one thousand dollars ($1,000.00)
Of cost or fraction thereof above one thousand dollars (1..000.00)
up to and including ten thousand dollars ( "10;000.00), one dot-
lar (?1.00) for each one thousand dollars 01,000.00) of cost
or fraction thereof above ten thousand dollars (510,000.00),
up to and including one hundred thousand dollars (0100 000.00)0
and fifty cents (0.50) for each one thousand dollars (;1,000.00)
of cost or fraction thereof above one hundred thousand dollars

The fee for permit for banner signs shall be two dollars
(?"2.00) each.
The fee for vmecking operations sal be two dollars ($2;00).
