AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 2, 3, 5,
6, 7, 9, 10 AND 17, OF ORDINANCE NO. 3973
ADOPTED ON THE 12th DAY OF APRIL., 1954
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the Civil City of South Bend,
Indiana:
SECTION I: That paragraph B of Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3973 adopted
on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
B. Residential and Commercial Heating, residential air conditioning
and ventilating equipment, systems, inspectors, examining and
control boards, licenses or contractors as used herein shall include
all devices for warm air heating, residential cooling, humidifying,
de- humidifying or ventilating all or parts of any public or private
building within the City of South Bend, Indiana and shall include all
parts thereof.
SECTION II: That the first paragraph of Section 2 of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
There is hereby created the office of Residential and Com-
mercial Heating, Residential Air Conditioning and ventilating In-
spector, hereafter referred to as the Inspector.
SECTION III: That paragraph five of Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3973 adopted
on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby deleted.
SECTION IV: That the title to Section 5 of Ordinance No. 3973 adopted on
The 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
HEATINGs RESIDENTIAL AIR CONDITIONING
AND VENTILATING EXAMINING-BOARD CREATED,
SECTION V: That the second paragraph of Section 6 of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
New licenses or renewals shall not be issued without written
approval of the Chief Inspector.
SECTION VI: That the third and fourth paragraphs of Section 6 of Ordinance
No. 3973 adopted on the 12th day of Ap 4 e are hereby
deleted.

SECTION VII: That the third paragraph of Section 7• of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
The Chief Inspector shall have the power to grant permits for
trial installations of new types of warm air heating, residential air
conditioning or ventilating equipment or system or any new methods
of installing such equipment.
SECTION VIII: That the twelfth paragraph of Section 7 of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
The location of kitchen ventilating fans when vented by duct
system shall be placed at least two (2) feet above cooking unit. If
vented directly through an outside wall with no duct system except
the fan housing, no regulation as to location is hereby specified.
SECTION IX: That the sixth and seventh paragraphs of Section 9 of Ordinance
No. 3973 adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same are hereby
deleted.
SECTION X: That the second paragraph of Section 10 of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Before a license is granted to an Class "A" applicant a fee of
One Hundred ($100y Dollars shall be paid and before any Class "A'
expiring license is renewed, a fee of Twenty -Five ($25) Dollars
shall be paid. A fee of Ten ($10) Dollars shall be paid fora Class "B"
License and before a Class "B" license is renewed, a fee of Five
($5) Dollars shall be paid. A fee of Twenty -five ($25) Dollars shall
be paid fora Dealers License and before any Dealerts license is re-
newed a fee of Fifteen ($15) Dollars shall be paid.
SECTION XI: That the third paragraph of Section 10 of Ordinance No. 3973
adopted on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
All licenses shall expire yearly on the 31st day of December and
must be renewed before March 1st to remain valid.
SECTION XII: That under B of Section 17 of Ordinance No. 3972 adopted
on the 12th day of April, 1954 be and the same is hereby amended and the
following is deleted therefrom:
