AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702
ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL CF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND ON THE 14th DAY OF JUNE,
1949, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF the Civil City
of South Bend, Indiana:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3702,adopted by this
Common Council upon the 14th day of June, 1949, more commonly
known as the zoning ordinance, be amended by rezoning of a
certain parcel of land located in the City of South Bend, St.
Joseph County, State of Indiana, known and described as follows,
towit:
"A part of the North half (z) of the South East
Quarter (_) of Section No. 8, Township No. 37 North,
Range No. 3 East, which part is bounded by a line
running as follows, towit:
Beginning at a point 1354.4 feet West and 62.5 feet
South of the North East corner of the South East Quarter
CD of Section No. 8; thence South 275 feet; thence
West parallel with the North line of said quarter
Section 188.32 feet; thence North 93 feet; thence
East 10 feet; thence North 182 feet to the South line
of Jefferson Blvd., in the City of South Bend, and
thence East along the South line of Jefferson Blvd.
177.07 feet to the place of beginning, also
A lot or parcel of land in the North half of the
South East Quarter of Section No.. 8, Township No.
37 North, Range No. 3 East, which part is bounded
by a line running as follows, viz:
Beginning at the intersection of the East line of
Thirty - Second Street in the City of South Bend, with
the North line of the right -of -way of the Grand
Trunk and Western Railroad Company thence running
East along the North line of said right -of -way a
distance of 454.15 feet to the South West corner of
Lot numbered 18 as shown on the recorded Plat of
Jerome First Addition to the City of South Bend,
thence North on the West line of said Addition a
distance of 189.18 feet, more or less, to the South
West corner of Lot Numbered 7 in said Jerome First
Addition; thence West 336.92 feet to a point 120
- 1 -
feet East of the East line of said Thirty - Second
Street in South Bend; thence North 27 feet to a point
248 feet South of the South line of Jefferson
Boulevard in the City of South Bend; thence West 120
feet to the East line of said Thirty- Second Street
thence South on said East line 132 feet; thence East
120 feet; thence South 66 feet; thence West 120 feet
to the East line of said Thirty- Second Street; thence
South on said East line 16.23 feet to the place of
beginning."
from "A" Residence and "A" Height and Area District to "B"
Residence District and "C" Height and Area District, and that sai
ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and legal
publication.

Gentlemen:
July 11, 1960
The attached petition of Irene Stanz and the North Side
Lumber Company, Inc. to rezone the property generally
described as having a 177 foot frontage on Jefferson
Boulevard and 148 foot frontage on Thirty- Second Street
from "A" Residential Use and "A" Height and Area District
to "B" Residential Use and "C" Height and Area District
was legally advertised under date of June 25, 1960 and
given public hearing on July 7, 1960. The following
action was taken:
After due consideration the Commission found that
the proposed zoning would result in spot zoning.
It was therefore duly moved, seconded and unani-
mously carried that the petition be recommended
unfavorably to the Common Council.
