' ,11% 4oU AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: 1: That the following described property in St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, is hereby annexed to and brought within the City of South Bend, Indiana: The South one -half (i) of the South one -half O of the Northeast quarter (u) of Section No. 33, Township No. 38 North, Range No. 2 East; to- gether with a parcel of realty commencing on the East line of Section No. 33 in Township 38 North, Range 2 East at a point 660 ft. North of the Southeast corner of the Northeast quarter of said Section No. 33; thence West a distance of 1320.60 feet to the Southwest corner of the North one -half of the Southeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of said Section No. 33; thence North 261.56 feet; thence East 1320.67 feet to a point on the East line of said Section No. 33 which is 275.68 feet North of the place of beginning; thence South 275.68 feet to the place of beginning, consisting of approximately48 acres more or less. Barton, et al, to annex to the City of South Bend, Indiana the South one -half of the South one -half of the NE4 of Sec. No. 33, T38N, R2E; together with a parcel of realty commencing on the East line of Sec. No. 33 in T38N, R2E, at a point 660 feet North of the Southeast corner of the NE-41 of said Sec. No. 33; thence Oest a distance of 1320.60 feet to the Southwest corner of the North one -half of the Southeast quarter of the NE-41 of said Sec. No. 33; thence North 261.56 feet; thence East 1320.67 feet to a point on the East line of said Sec. No. 33 which is 275.68 feet North of the place of beginning; thence South 275.68 feet to the place of beginning, consisting of approximately 48 acres, more or less, being generally described as being West of Maple Road, East of Sheridan Avenue, and North of the present city limits.was legally advertised on March 28, 1960 and given public hearing under date of April 7, 1960. The following action was taken: After due consideration the Commission found that: 1. The annexation is in the best interests of the city and of the territory sought to be annexed. 2. The area is urban in character, being an economic and social part of the annexing city. Common Council -2- April 11, 1960 3. The city is financially able to provide munici- pal services to the annexed area within the reasonably near future. 4. The area sought to be annexed, , is needed for development of the city in the reasonably near future. 5. The lines of the annexation are so drawn as to form a compact area abutting the municipality.
