An Ordinance to amend Section 1 of Ordinance
No. 4320 -60, entitled "An Ordinance establishing
a new schedule of rates and charges for services
rendered by the waterworks system of the City
of South Bend"
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has
heretofore on May 23, 1960, adopted Ordinance No. 4320 -60 establish-
ing a new schedule of rates and charges for services rendered by the
waterworks system of the City of South Bend; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council now finds that the rates and
charges set forth in said ordinance for water consumption should be
reduced and the charges for fire protection set forth in said ordinance
should be increased; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND:
Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4320 -60, entitled
"An Ordinance establishing a new schedule of rates and charges for
services rendered by the waterworks system of the City of South Bend, "
adopted on May 23, 1960, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows: Section 1. That there shall be and there are hereby estab-
lished for the use of and services rendered by the waterworks system
of the City of South Bend the following rates and charges based upon
water supplied during each monthly and /or quarterly billing period by
said waterworks system:

(f) Temporary Service (minimum charge payable in advance)
Temporary service where metered shall be calculated upon
the registration of meter or meters installed at the approved
meter rates. In such cases as the utility may deem it imprac-
ticable to install a meter for temporary service, there shall be
a minimum charge of $5. 00, if the water consumption computed
at the approved rates is known to be in excess of the $5. 00 min-
imum charge, an authorized agent of the utility shall have the
right to estimate said water consumption and the estimated con-
sumption shall be billed at the approved meter rates.
(g) Collection or Deferred Payment Charge
All bills for water services not paid within fifteen (15) days
from the due date thereof, as stated in such bills, shall be sub-
ject to a collection or deferred payment charge of 10% on the
first $3.00 and 310 on the amount in excess of $3.00.
Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage; provided, however, that the schedule of rates
and charges herein set out shall become effective at such time as the
Public Service Commission of Indiana shall direct.
