AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 2 and 9(a) of ORDINANCE NO. 3644, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING THE USE OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CREATING AND DE- FINING PARKING METER ZONES; PROVIDING FOR THE DESIG- NATION OF INDIVIDUAL PARKING SPACES; DEFINING AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND MAIN- TENANCE, PURCHASE, LEASING, USE, SERVICING, REPAIR, REPLACEMENT, ACQUIRING AND REGULATION OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING PARKING TIME LIMITS; REQUIRING DEPOSITS OF COINS FOR THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING METER ZONES AND PROVIDING FOR, THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSITION OF SUCH COINS; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT THEREOF; DEFINING OFFENSES AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES; AND PROVIDING THAT THE INVALIDITY OF PART SHALL NOT AFFECT THE VALIDITY OF THE REMAINDER OF ORDINANCE" PASSED JUNE 7, 1948, ALSO KNOWN AS SECTIONS 55 and 59 OF CHAPTER 29 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1949, GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 3709, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4289, PASSED DECEMBER 14, 1959, AND AS FURTHER AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4398 PASSED ON THE 11th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1961. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 3644, as amended by Ordinance No. 4289, and further amended by Ordinance No. 4398, shall be further amended to read as follows: That subparagraph (a) Two Hour Zones shall read as follows: (a) Two Hour Zones Michigan Street, both sides, Marion to Madison; Tutt to Garst; South Street to Bronson Street; South Street, both sides, Main to St. Joseph Street; Monroe Street, both sides, Lafayette to Franklin Streets; Franklin Street, both sides, Monroe to Wayne and Jefferson to Washington Avenue; Western Avenue, both sides, William Street to Lafayette Blvd.; Wayne Street, both sides, Franklin to Lafayette; Jefferson Blvd., both sides, William to Lafayette Blvd.; Washington Avenue, both sides, William to Lafayette Blvd.; Colfax Avenue, both sides, William to Lafayette Blvd.; LaSalle Avenue, both sides, William to Lafayette and Michigan to Hydraulic; Lincolnway West, both sides, William Street to LaSalle Ave.; Carroll Street, both sides, Wayne to Lincolnway East; Lincolnway East, both sides, Columbia Street to Jefferson Blvd.; St. Joseph Street, both sides, Western Avenue to Monroe Street; Michigan Street, both sides, South to Monroe Street; Main Street, both sides, Monroe to Western Avenue and LaSalle to Madison Street; 300 and 400 block South Lafayette, both sides, LaSalle Avenue, both sides, Lafayette to Main Street; Washington Avenue, both sides, Michigan to Artesian Avenue; Wayne Street, both sides, St. Joseph to Carroll Street; Western Avenue, both sides, Lafayette to Main Street; Monroe Street, both sides, Lafayette to St. Joseph Street; St. Joseph Street, both sides, Western Avenue to.Mr a n Street. That subparagraph (c) Thirty -Six Minute Zones, shall be completely deleted, and that subparagraph (d) Twelve Minute Zones, shall become subparagraph (c), and shall read as follows: Twelve Minute Zones 200 Carroll St., east side, 5th meter South of Lincoln Way East; 100 W. Colfax, 1st 2 meters east of Main St., on North.side; 200 W. Colfax, south Side, 1st 3 meters east of Lafayette; 417 W. Colfax, 1st meter West of William, North side of street; Jefferson Blvd., north side, $rd meter west of Lincoln Way East; 100 N. Lafayette Blvd. , East side, 5th & 6th meters South of Colfax; 300 W. LaSalle on 1st meter west of Lafayette, south side; 302 Lincoln Way East, 1st meter south of Carroll Street, South side; 200 S. Main St., east side, in front of U. S. Post Office, 6th meter, south of Jefferson; -3- 125 N. Michigan, west side, 1st meter south of Colfax Avenue; 219 N. Michigan (12 Min. parking 8 AM to 12 Midnight); 300 N. Michigan, west side, 1st 2 meters north of LaSalle; 400 S. Michigan, west side, 5th & 6th meters south of Western; 900 S. Michigan, 4th & 5th meters south of Sample; St. Joseph Street, east side, 200 block, 1st 3 meters north of Wayne Street; 436 S. St. Joseph, east side, 1st meter north of Monroe; 402 S. St. Joseph, east side, 3rd meter south of Western; 100 W. Washington, north side, 1st meter east of 1st alley west of Michigan - This sign has an added message of "No Parking 1 PM to 6 PM" 200 W. Washington, South side, 5 meters east of Lafayette on south side; 300 E. Wayne Street, on meters #20 & 12; 300 S. Lafayette 7th & 8th meters South of Wayne. SECTION II. That Section 9(a) of Ordinance No. 3644, as amended by Ordinance No. 4289, shall be further amended to read as follows: Section 9. (a) Parking or standing a vehicle in a designated space in a parking meter zone shall be lawful for twelve (12) minutes upon deposit of a one -cent coin, thirty (30) minutes upon the deposit of one (1) five -cent coin, sixty (60) minutes upon the deposit of two (2) five -cent coins, and that all meters over one hour shall be one (1) five -cent coin per hour, and provided that it shall be unlawful to remain parked in any such parking space beyond the parking time limit set for such parking space. SECTION III.
