Re: Technical Corrections to the 2001-2004 Firefighters' Salary Ordinance
Dear Council Members:
The attached Bill amends Ordinance No. 9127-00 which established salaries
and monetary fringe benefits for members of the South Bend Fire Department for
calendar years 2001 through 2004.
This Bill would amend that ordinance which was passed on August 17th in
two (2) areas, namely it would:
1. Delete from Section II of Ordinance No. 9127-00 the sentence
which reads "Rank does not mean salary classification."
2. Deletes "employee" in two places in § V, 9 b and inserts "AEM'T".
3. Insert in Section VI of Ordinance No. 9127-00 a new paragraph j
addressing the $ 3,000 amount to be paid to regularly assigned
Safety Officers. This monetary amount is the same amount which
the Safety Officers currently earn.
These items were discussed in meetings held with members of the Wage
and Grievance Committee representing the South Bend Fire Firefighters
Association, Local No. 362, Chief Taylor and Assistant Chief Switalsl~, the City
Spokesperson and the Attorney for the Board of Public Safety. Your favorable
consideration of these items is requested. Thank you.
