AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, IN, APPROPRIATING $225,000 FROM THE SEWER REPAIR FUND (640).
FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING UNANTICIPATED PRIVATE SEWER REPAIRS.
Statement of Purpose and Intent:
In order to meet the costs associated with unanticipated repairs to private sewer
lines covered by the sewer repair insurance program, this ordinance is necessary:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $225,000 is hereby appropriated within Fund 640 for
outside contractor costs associated with the Sewer Repair Program.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

The attached bill for your consideration and approval will appropriate $225,000.00 from
Fund # 641 the Sewer Repair Fund. The funds will be used to pay for costs associated
with the repair of private sewers as part of our sewer repair insurance program. The
number of repairs has escalated beyond our budget predictions of a year ago.
