I­o — AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING DRIVERS OF MOTOR VEHICLES INVOLVED. IN CERTAIN CLASSES OF COLLISIONS TO FILE WRITTEN ACCIDENT RE- PORTS WITH THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARYmENT. DEFINING TERMS, AND CLASSIFYING SUCH REPORTS CONFIDENTIAL IN NATURE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I. DEFINITIONS• The terms, words, and phrases used in this ordinance shall have the meanings ascribed to them in that certain Ordinance known as "The Traffic Code of the City,1° being Chapter 25, Section 2 of an Ordinance duly enacted and adopted by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana.on the 14th day of October, 1963, numbered 4608 -63 and known as "Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, 1962." SECTION II. DUTY TO REPORT ACCIDENTS: The driver of any ve- hicle involved in an accident resulting in injuries or death to any person or property damage to an apparent extent of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or more, shall within twenty -four (24) hours make a written report of such accident at the police headquarters on forms provided by the police department. ar,uriuiv Ill. ACCIDENT REPORTS CONFIDENTIAL: Accident reports required to be made and filed under this Ordinance shall be treated by the police department as confidential, and in (every event shall be subject to the requirements of the Acts of Indiana for the year 1939, ch. 48. Section 50, p. 259, compiled' as Burns Indiana Annotated Statutes, Section 47 -1920. Q .- SECTION IV. SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF ORDINANCE: This Ordinance is supplementary to, and is not intended to replace or sup- plant, any accident reporting ordinance, statute or regulation in force at the time of its adoption. SECTION V. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council of the Civil City of South Bend, Indianaa,, and approval by the Mayor.
