AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $5,000.00
FROM THE HAZ-MAT FUND (FUND #289)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend through its Fire Department operates a Hazardous Material
Response Team for the purpose of providing the citizens of South Bend with protection from
dangers arising from chemical spills and other accidents involving hazardous materials.
To operate at full efficiency and best protect the public, the Hazardous Material Response
Team needs to purchase new equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from
and within the Haz-Mat Fund (Fund No. 289) for the purchase of new equipment.

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approved by the Mayor.

Dear Ms. Pfeifer:
Please find attached for filing an Ordinance requesting an appropriation for
S5000.00 from a Grant that the South Bend Fire Department Haz-Mat Team
received from the St. Joseph County Local Emergency Plowing Committee. The
Funds will be used for purchasing a new air monitor and a new set of air bags for
the Haz-Mat Team. The Funds have been put in aHaz-Mat Fund (#289) and are
available to use.
