AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING
ORDINANCE NO. 3702 AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED
(North side of Western Ave, from Lombardy Drive to Mayflower Rd,)
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
SECTION I, That Zoning Ordinance No 3702 as heretofore
amended and supplemented be and the same is hereby amended and supplemented
by zoning as "C" Commercial Use District and "E" Height and Area District
the following described property:
A tract of land in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 8, Township
37 North, Range 2 East, South Bend, Indiana, described as
being bounded on the North by the South line of the recorded
Plat of Mayflower lst Unit, an Addition to the City of South
Bend; on the East by the West line of Summit Drive; on the
South by the North line of Western Avenue; and on the West
by the East line of Mayflower Road,
Together with
A tract of land in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 8, Township
37 North, Range 2 East, South Bend, Indiana, described as
follows:
Beginning at a point on the East line of said Section 8,
150 feet South of the intersection of the South line of
Washington Street with said East line of Section 8; thence
West perpendicular to said East line of Section 8 to the
East line of Summit Drive; thence South along said East
line of Summit Drive to the North line of Western Avenue;
thence East along said North line of Western Avenue to the
said East line of said Section 8; thence North along said
East line of Section 8 to the'place of beginning,
Together with
Part of Blocks lettered "C" and "D" as shown on the
recorded plat of Garden Village 3rd Unit, an addition to
the City of South Bend, Indiana and part of the East 1/2
of vacated Belleville Center described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the West line of Section 9, Township
37 North, Range 2 East, 150 feet South of the South line of
Washington Street; thence East perpendicular to said West
line of Section 9 to the West line of Lombardy Drive; thence
South along said West line of Lombardy Drive to the North
line of Western Avenue; thence West along said North line of
Western Avenue to said West line of Section 9; thence
North along said West line of Section 9 to the place of
beginning.
SECTION II, This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, approval by the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and
legal publication.

The attached petition of the Belleville Investment Company,
Inc. to zone "C" Commercial Use and "E" Height and Area
a tract of land being generally described as the north side
of Western Avenue from Lombardy Drive to Mayflower Road
was legally advertised under date of January 27, 1964 and
given public hearing on February 6, 1964. The following
action was taken:
After due consideration the Commission found
that the requested zoning was in the best
interest of the area. It was therefore duly
moved, seconded, and unanimously carried that
the petition be recommended favorably to the
Council.
