ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPRO-
PRIATIONS TO THE SANITATION DE-
PARTMENT ACCOUNTS XX263, XX71,
XX722, and XX73 IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT
OF $34,500.00.
WHEREAS: Certain extraordinary conditions have developed since
the adoption of the existing annual budget, so that it is now
necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the
annual budget, for the various functions of city government to
meet such extraordinary emergencies:
SECTION I. BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, that for the expenses of City Government
and its institutions for the year ending December 31, 1965, the
following sums of money are hereby appropriated and set apart
out of the fund herein named and for the purpose herein spec-
ified; subject to the laws governing the same, and such sums
herein appropriated shall be held to include all expenditures
authorized to be made during the year, unless otherwise ex-
pressly stipulated and provided by law.
SECTION II. That for said fiscal year there is hereby appro-
priated out of the city fund hereinafter designated, the follow-
ing specified amount to meet such extraordinary emergencies as
follows, to -wit: The sum of $34,500.00 from and out of the
General Fund is hereby appropriated to
Sanitation Department
Sanitation Department Accounts:
1. XX 263, Other Contractual Services, $500.00
2. XX 71, Buildings, $6,000.00
3. XX 722, Motor Equipment, $21,000.00
4. XX 73, Land, $7,000.00
all in the General Fund.
SECTION III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council, its approval
by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements
of emergency appropriations.

As stated further in a full report on the operation of our
sanitary landfill and investigation made of the operations
of privately operated sanitary landfills, we are recommend-
ing that certain additional equipment is acquired and that
certain monies are set aside for the fencing and prepara-
tion for operation in our new landfill site at the corner
of Bendix and Lathrop Streets.
The additional equipment required is as follows:
1 - used crawler tractor with dozer blade
and wench for operating a pull -type
scraper. Estimated cost - - - $32,000.00
1 - 15 yard pull type scraper - - - 6,000.00
Fencing of new site - - - 7,000.00
Moving of present utility buildings
and erection of a new gate house - - - 6,000.00
Topographic map - - - 500.00
Total Cost - - - $51,500.00
Less monies in Sanitation Properties
Account XX -722 (Motor Equipment) 17,000.00
