Boland Drive closed and water advisory issued
Boland Drive, between Portage and Riverside has been closed due to flooding of the road
as a result of the current excessive rainfall. City officials request, for safety purposes, that all
motorists avoid this area until further notice.
In addition, there was also a water main break, along Boland Drive at 2pm. The break
caused a 20 pound drop in pressure in the area bounded by Bendix on the West, Riverside Drive
on the East, Lathrop on the South, and Auten Road on the north.
Water Works crews had the break completely repaired by 4pm. Pressure has been
restored and no other problems are expected.
However, as a precaution, the City has issued a “boil advisory” for this area. This action
is standard policy in the water industry as a result of the main break and the drop in pressure.

Again, this advisory is being issued as an extra caution, due to the drop in pressure, it is a
“boil order”. Residents are encouraged to boil any water that is used for drinking or cooking.
The advisory is in effect for 72 hours. This will allow crews to continue testing the water and to
make any adjustments necessary.
