EXECUTIVE SESSION AUGUST
The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 8:40
a.m. The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room, 14 th Floor, County City Building,
South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) (A)

President Donald Alford and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Donald Alford, Bruce J. BonDurant,
Patrick Cottrell, and E. Jack Reed were present. Also present were Uniform Division Chief Jeff
Walters, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. Board members did not
discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. The
meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.

The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20,2008,
with President Donald Alford and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Bruce J. BonDurant, Patrick D.
Cottrell, and E. Jack Reed present. Also present were Uniform Division Chief Jeff Walters, Fire
Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
The meeting was held in the board ® Public Works Meeting Room, 131 Floor, County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana.
APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS
President Alford advised that if there were no ob ections by members of the Board
j the minutes of
the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular meetings of the Board held on July 30,
2008 would be accepted and approved.
ACCEPT AND APPROVE RESIGNATION — PATROLMAN COLIN BURNS
President Alford advised that Police Chief Daryl Boykins has submitted to the Board a letter of
resignation from Patrolman Colin Burns, effective August 1, 2008. He has served the South Bend
Police Department and the citizens of South Bend since he was sworn in on January 9, 2008. Upon a
motion made by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the r�signation was accepted
and approved.

President Alford indicated objections
