The attached petition of Joseph and Tina Zappia was legally
advertised on March 22, 1965 and given public hearing on
April 1, 1965. The following action was taken:
After due consideration the Commission found
the commercial use of subject property would
be an unwarranted extension into a residential
neighborhood; that ample commercial property
exists; that the property is not necessarily
commercial in nature; that residential uses
exist to the north and to the west; that
there is no demonstrated need for additional
commercial land in the vicinity; that, in
fact, there exists approximately 1800 feet
of unused commercial zoning between Edison
and South Bend Avenue on Ironwood and that
therefore sufficient commercial, sufficient
vacant commercial as well as commercially
zoned land not used for commercial purposes
exists in the area. It was therefore duly
moved, seconded, and carried that the petition
be recommended unfavorably to the Council.
Very truly yours,
CITY P /LANNIING COMMISSION
