AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING
ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
Section 1:
That Zoning Ordinance No. 3702, as heretofore amended,
be and the same is hereby amended and supplemented by zoning
a portion of
the'f�}Yew-ing described property "A" Residential Use and "All
Height and Area District-' and another portion of the following described
property "C" Commercial use and "A" Heighth and
Area District"
A tract of land situated in the north one -half of
Sections 26 and 27, of T38N, R2E, containing 167.79
acres, more or less, and described hereinunder as
follows: Beginning in said Section 27 at the
intersection of the present city limits 35 feet
west of the centerline of Portage Road and the
southerly right -of -way line of the Northern Indiana
Toll Road, thence east along said southerly right
of way line to the intersection of said southerly
right of way line and the present city limits in
said Section 26, thence southerly, thence westerly,
thence northerly, thence easterly, thence north-
westerly along the present city limits to the point
of beginning, except:.therefrom the following described
property which shall be zoned "C" Commercial Use
and "A" Height and Area District towit: Beginning
at a point on the center line of Portage Road, said
point being 477.9 feet Northwesterly from the
intersection of the center line of Portage Road and
the East center line of Section 27, T38N, R2E; thence
West 325 feet, more or less; thence North 150 feet;
thence East 256.4 feet, more or less, to the center
line of Portage Road, thence Southeasterly along said
center line 165 feet to the point of beginning, being ►..i
generally between Colfax Road and the Northern Indiana
Toll Road and bounded on the east, south and west
by the present city limits and fronting on Portage p

The attached petition of the City Planning Commisssion to
l zone 167.79 acres, more or less, generally between Colfax
Road and the Toll Road and bounded on the east, south and
west by the present city limits and fronting on Portage
Road was legally advertised under date August 23, 1965 and
given public hearing on September 2, 1965. The following
action was taken:at the October 14, 1965 meeting:
After due consideration it was moved by
Mr. Barkley, seconded by Mr. Kromkowski
and unanimously carried that the Coddens
petition be incorporated with this petition
and recommended favorably to the Council
since the proposed zoning is in the best
interest of the subject property.
