Apro -rA AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 9 -3 (30), AND CHAPTER 11, SECTION 11 -3 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962 SECTION 1 :BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That Chapter 9, Section 9 -3 (30), of the Municipal Code of South Bend, Indiana, 1962, be amended as follows: (30) All of article 15 except the number and title thereof is hereby deleted and the following is inserted in place thereof. SECTION 1500.0. SCOPE. "The design and construction of all new installations of electrical conductors, fittings, devices and fixtures for light, heat, heat and power service equipment, and all equipment used for power supply to radio and television receiving systems and amateur radio transmission systems in buildings and structures; and all alterations or extensions to existing wiring systems therein shall conform to the provisions of Chapter 11 of this code." SECTION 1501.0. ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DIVISION "There is hereby created a division of the department of building inspection, which shall hereafter be called the electrical inspection division." 1501.1. Electrical Inspector. The executive in charge of the electrical inspection division shall be known as the electrical inspector. 1501.11 Qualifications. The electrical inspector shall be qualified in accordance with provisions as set forth in Chapter 11, Section 3 of this code. 1501.12. Appointment, The electrical inspector shall be appointed by the Mayor. 1501.13. Duties. It shall be the duty of the electrical inspector to administer all of the provisions of this code, as such may pertain to electrical work as herein defined. 1501.14. Assistants. The Mayor shall appoint such assistants as may be necessary for the administration of this code, as such may pertain to electrical work as herein defined. 1501.15. Qualifications. Assistants in the electrical inspection division shall be qualified in accordance with provisions as set forth in subsection 107.6. 1501.16. Restrictions. The electrical inspector and the assistants in the electrical inspection division shall be subject to all restrictions as set forth in subsection 1.07.7. SECTION 2• That Chapter 11, Section 11 -3 of the Municipal Code of South Bend, Indiana, 1962, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 11 -3 Electrical Inspector- Qualifications. The executive chosen to fill the office of electrical inspector created by Chapter 9, Section 9 -3 (30) of this code shall be a citizen of the United States, of good moral character, and shall have had, immediately preceeding his appointment, at least six (6) years' experience in the installation, alteration, repair or inspection of electrical wiring and equipment for electric light, heat and power in or on buildings and premises, or, in lieu thereof, he shall have had three (3) years' such experience and shall be a graduate of some recognized engineering college or university; he shall have a thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code as approved by the American Standards Association, and of approved materials and methods of electrical construction necessary for safety to persons and property.
