AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $432,143 WITHIN FUND 212 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ADMINISTERING THE AMERICORPS PROGRAM
Statement of Purpose and Intent:
In order to assure the efficient and timely utilization of AmeriCorps program funds in accordance
with the parameters of the national AmeriCorps program, certain appropriations are needed:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $432,143 is hereby appropriated for use in administering the
AmeriCorps program (including paying member's stipends, FICA and insurance, etc. as well as allowable
administrative costs).
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

The attached bill for your consideration and approval will appropriate $432,143 ($380,503 in federal
funds, and $51,640 in cash match from the host agencies) for the AmeriCorps program for the year
starting September 1, 2001. The City has agreed to administer the program so it will not be lost to the
community.
