AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $131,200 FROM FUND 212 FOR THE
PURPOSE OF FUNDING ACTIVITIES UNDER THE US EPA BROWNFIELD
PILOT ASSESSMENT GRANT
Statement of Purpose and Intent:
WHEREAS, The City has been awarded a Brownfields Pilot Assessment Grant from
the United States Environmental Protection Agency; and
WHEREAS, The City wishes to increase the development potential of sites throughout
the City, as funds allow:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $131,200 is hereby appropriated within Fund 212 for costs
associated with Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, personnel expenses and
other costs.
SECTION II. These funds shall be reimbursed by the United States Environmental
Protection Agency.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

The attached bill for your consideration and approval will appropriate $131,200 from Fund
212. The funds will be used to pay for the costs of Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
of priority parcels, as well as expenses for personnel and other cost categories. The funds
will be reimbursed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the Grant
Agreement for the Brownfields Pilot Assessment Grant.
