AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, AND STOCKBERGER MACHINERY, INCOR-
PORATED OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE
PURCHASE OF ONE (1) SULLAIR MODEL 150 -GP
PORTABLE AIR COMPRESSOR IN THE SUM OF
$3,101.00.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water
Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and Stockberger
Machinery, Incorporated of South Bend, Indiana, on the 3rd day
of February, 1969, for the purchase of one (1) Sullair Model
150 -GP Portable Air Compressor to be supplied by Stockberger
Machinery, Incorporated of South Bend, Indiana, in the sum of
$3,101.00, is hereby approved and confirmed.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

A Notice to Bidders was published in the South Bend
Tribune and Tri- County News on January 3 and 10, 1969.
Bids were submitted on January 20, 1969.
At our regular Board meeting of January 20, 1969, the
following bids were received:
A. H. Choitz & Company, Incorporated $3,556.00 i
Korte Brothers, Incorporated 3,743.20
Stockberger Machinery, Incorporated 3,101.00
Indiana Equipment Company, Incorporated 3,900.00
The bids above all include hose reels on both sides.
They all were referred to my office for review and
recommendation.
The bids were reviewed and discussed with Mr. John
McCauslin, Water Works Superintendent of Operations,
and Mr. Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer. It is our
recommendation that the low bid be taken from Stock -
berger Machinery, Incorporated. The Board approved
same on February 3, 1969.
The Ingersoll Rand portable compressor, presently
operated by the Water Works, is being traded on this
new piece of equipment. This unit is now 15 years old
and is deteriorated to the point that it does not per-
form as needed. For example, it does not produce the
necessary air, as originally rated, to do the necessary

work. The machine will also need such major repairs
as a new driving engine in the near future, if not
replaced.
Attached is the Notice to Bidders and the Specifications.
