AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, AND ROCKWELL MANUFACTURING COM-
PANY, MELROSE PARK, ILLINOIS, FOR THE
PURCHASE OF WATER METERS FOR USE FROM
FEBRUARY 7, 1969 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1970 IN
THE AMOUNT OF $2,246.40.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water Works
of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and Rockwell Manufacturing
Company, Melrose Park, Illinois, on the 20th day of January 1969,
pursuant to advertising and receipt of bids, as the purchase of
same is required in the operation of said Water Works in a total
quantity and a total cost of not to exceed the quantity and cost
itemized for water meters in the amount of $2,246.40, is hereby
approved and confirmed:

Compound Meters $2,246.40
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

RE: Rockwell Manufacturing Corporation
Two -inch Compound Meters
FROM: John L. Hunter, Superintendent of Utilities
This ordinance is needed due to an error in the original
awarding of bids. When we reviewed Rockwell Manufacturing
Corporation's bid, we used the bid figure that included
connections. The specifications call for the bid to be
without connections. When we had this called to our atten-
tion, we found that Rockwell was 10 cents lower per meter
than the next lowest bid.
Therefore, we have to develop this additional ordinance to
award Rockwell Manufacturing Corporation with this particu-
lar.group of meters.
