ORDINANCE 5010 -68
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN
THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA CERTAIN
LANDS AND PROVIDING, AFTER ANNEXATION SHALL
TAKE EFFECT, THAT FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS,
ONE HALF.O OF THE MUNICIPAL PROPERTY TAXES
TO BE IMPOSED UPON THE ANNEXED TERRITORY SHALL
BE IMPOUNDED AND PLACED IN A SPECIAL FUND
SOLELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ANNEXED TERRITORY,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION 1: That the following described property in St. Joseph
County, State of Indiana, is hereby annexed to and brought within
the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Beginning at a point thirty -five (35) feet East of the
Northwest corner of the Northeast one quarter (NE h) of
Section Thirty -one (31),Township Thirty -seven North
(T37N), Range Three East (R3E); thence South two hundred
fifty (250) feet along the East right -of -way line of York
Road, the present City Limits; thence East one hundred
eighty (180) feet along the present City Limits; thence
South one hundred fifty (150) feet along the present City
Limits; thence East three hundred eight (308) feet along
the present City Limits to the Northwest corner of the
4 -H Fairground property; thence South eight hundred thirty-
seven and fifty hundredths (837.50) feet along the present
«` :aity Limits line which line is also the West property line
the 4 -H Fairgrounds; thence East seven hundred ninety-

twenty -three hundredths (107.23) acres, all in Section
Thirty -one (31), Township Thirty -seven North (T37N), Range
Three East (R3E), Centre Township, St. Joseph County,
Indiana
ALSO: The West two hundred (200) feet taken off of and
from the entire West side of the Northwest one quarter

(NW 4) of Section Thirty -two (32), Township Thirty -seven
North (T37N), Range Three East (R3E), containing twelve
and twenty -seven hundredths (12.27) acres, all in Penn
Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana
Also: A tract of land beginning at the intersection of
the centerlines of Jackson Road and Ironwood Road; thence
East along the centerline of Jackson Road a distance of
two hundred (200) feet; thence North thirty (30) feet;
thence West two hundred thirty (230) feet to the present
City Limits; thence South thirty (30) feet along the
present City Limits; thence East thirty (30) feet to
the place of beginning, taking in the remainder of the
intersection of Jackson and Ironwood Roads and two
hundred (200) feet of Jackson Road to the East, contain-
ing sixteen hundredths (.16) acres, all in Section Thirty
(30), Township Thirty -seven North (T37N), Range Three
East (R3E), Centre Township, Section Twenty -nine (29),
Township Thirty -seven North (T37N), Range Three East
(R3E), Penn Township, Section Thirty -two (32), Township
Thirty -seven North (T37N), Range Three East (R3Ar, Penn
Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana.
SECTION 2: Be it further ordained by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana, that for a period of three (3)
years after annexation shall take effect one -half ('h) of all
municipal property taxes to be imposed upon the annexed territory
shall be impounded and placed in a special fund solely for the
benefit of such annexed territory, its property owners and
inhabitants, in the extension of municipal services and benefits
and the making of municipal or public improvements in the
annexed territory.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its enactment, approval by the Mayor, and legal
publication.
