AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, AND STOCKBERGER MACHINERY,
INCORPORATED OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR
THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) SULLAIR MODEL
150 -GP PORTABLE AIR COMPRESSOR IN THE SUM
OF $3,101.00.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Waste-
water Treatment Plant of South Bend, Indiana, and Stockberger
Machinery, Incorporated of South Bend, Indiana, on the 3rd
day of February, 1969, for the purchase of one (1) Sullair
Model 150 -GP Portable Air Compressor to be supplied by Stock -
berger Machinery, Incorporated of South Bend, Indiana, in the
sum of $3,101.00, is hereby approved and confirmed.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

RE: Wastewater Treatment Plant
Portable Air Compressor
FROM: John L. Hunter, Superintendent of Utilities
This follows the same procedure as the Ordinance from the
Water Works purchasing their compressor. Bids were taken
on January 20, 1969, as follows:
A. H. Choitz & Company $4,056.00
General Equipment & Machine Co., Inc 4,540.00
Korte Brothers, Incorporated 3,995.00
Stockberger Machinery, Incorporated 3,101.00
Indiana Equipment Company, Incorporated 3,900.00
The Board referred the bids to my office for consideration.
After a review with Mr. Louis Rague, Superintendent of
Operations, and Mr. Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, the
low bid of Stockberger Machinery, Incorporated, was accepted.
Our recommendation was given to the Board on February 3,
1969, and a contract was entered into on that date.
The unit to be traded is a Jegger Portable Compressor and
it is ten years old. The unit is deteriorated to a point
where repairs are too costly. It does not perform the job
for which it is needed. This old unit is very hard to start
in the morning and has been inoperative most of this winter.
It has been necessary to lease a compressor, on a short -term
basis, so that emergency jobs can be completed. Due to the
age of the equipment, it will no longer function properly.
