HomeMy WebLinkAboutAppropriating Private donations $1,832,930.87 in COIT Fund # 404 for the purposes of Palais Royale Capital ImprovementsORDINANCE No. 9293-01 Passed by the Common Council of the Ciry of South Bend, Indiana November 26, 01 20 Attest: Attest: Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of Soutli Bend, Indiana Nrn~PmhPr ~7~ 20 01 City Clerk President of Common Council Ciry Clerk November 27, Approved and signed by me 20 _ Mayor ORDINANCE NO. l Z ~ 3 ~ ~ I AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING PRIVATE DONATIONS TOTALING $1,832,930.87 WHICH ARE ON DEPOSIT IN COUNTY OPTION TAX FUND (#404) FOR PURPOSES OF PALMS ROYALE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The City of South Bend is commencing the capital renovation and rehabilitation of the Palais Royale Ballroom at the Morris Performing Arts Center located at the corner of Colfax and Michigan Streets in South Bend. The City previously appropriated funds for this project in Ordinance Number 9196-01. In addition to the previously appropriated funds, the City has received private donations from South Bend Entertainment, Inc., for this Palais Royale improvement project. These private donations total $1,832,930.87 and they have been deposited into the County Option Tax Fund (#404). It is in the best interest of the City of South Bend that these privately donated funds now be appropriated for purposes of beginning the capital renovation and rehabilitation construction of the Palais Royale Ballroom at the Morns Performing Arts Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The sum of $1,832,930.87 consisting solely of private donations deposited into County Option Income Tax Fund (#404) is hereby appropriated for the purpose of capital renovation and rehabilitation construction work of the Palais Royale Ballroom at the Moms Performing Arts Center. Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval of the Mayor. These funds were deposited into the County Option Income Tax Fund (#404) for convenience and in anticipation of commencing work on this important civic improvement. As you can see, the public has been generous with its donations and we are anticipating more donations to reduce the use of tax dollars for this project.
