The appropriation of these monies will help enable the South Bend Fire Department to utilize a federal grant to purchase this equipment, thus allowing the Fire Department to fight fire more effectively and to benefit and best protect the public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the following sum of money is hereby appropriated from the General Fund (#101) to the Fire Department Equipment Fund for the purchase of new equipment: ACCOUNT NO. DESCRIPTION AMOUNT 101-0901-422-43.05 Fire Department Equipment Fund $59,070.00 Section 2. This appropriation will cover the Federal Grant for flashover simulators and the purchase of one (1) chemical detector that will detect chemical agents in the air in the event of a Haz-mat incident. The total amount of the appropriation will be reimbursed by the U.S. Fire Administration and the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
