AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, TRANSFERRING $55,000
FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SALARY FUND
TO THE FIItE DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT FUND
Statement of Purpose and Intent
The City of South Bend Fire Department wishes to purchase certain cameras for
firefighting. The appropriation of these monies will help enable the South Bend Fire Department
to utilize a federal grant to purchase this equipment, thus allowing the Fire Department to fight
fire more effectively and to benefit and best protect the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the following sum of money is hereby transferred from the Fire
Department Salary Fund (Account No. 101-0901-422-10.01) to the Fire Department Equipment
Fund for the purchase of new equipment.

Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Please find attached for filing an ordinance transferring $55,000 within the Fire
Department Budget to purchase Fire Equipment. This transfer will allow the
Department to purchase two (2) thermal imaging cameras and our share of 30% of
the Federal Grant for the flashover simulators.
Chief Switalski or myself will be available to answer any questions that you may have
and Chief Switalski will be making the formal presentation at the public meeting.
