AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRI-
ATION FROM THE GENERAL PARK FUND IN
THE AMOUNT OF $259314.03 TO ACCOUNTS

WHEREAS, on the 26th day of March, 1969 a bolt of lightening struck
the maintenance building at ELbel Golf Course, owned and operated by the De-
partment of Public Parks, City of South Bend, causing a major "fire which destroyed
the building, equipment and supplies, and
WHEREAS, such building, equipment and supplies are needed for the effi-
cient operation and maintenance of said golf course, and
WHEREAS, the 1969 Park Department budget does not include funds available
for the replacement of the building, equipment and supplies lost in said fire, and
WHEREAS, the building, equipment and supplies lost in the fire were
covered by insurance and checks from the insurance company in the amount of $25014.03
were deposited in the General Park Fund, now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
Section I. That for said fiscal year there is hereby appropriated out
of and from the General Park Fund and the following specified
amounts to meet such extraordinary emergencies as follows,
to -wit:

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage by the Common Council, its approval by the Mayor, legal publication
and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements of emergency appropriation.

EXCERPTS OF THE MINUTES FROM THE COMMON COUNCIL 14EETINGS FOR ORD. NO. 5096-69
ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING July 28, 1969
The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading
in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Ordinance be
set for public hearing August 11, 1969. Councilman Grounds seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING August 11, 1969
This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above
Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be
heard thereon. Mr. James R. Seitz, Assistant Superintendent of the
Park Department, spoke in favor of the Ordinance and explained the
need for the appropriation. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that
the Ordinance go to the council as favorable. Councilman Craven
seconded the motion. Motion carried.

To the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "AN ORDINANCE FOR
ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FROM THE GENERAL PARK FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$25,314.03 TO ACCOUNTS 252, 261, 323, 371, 41, 43, 442, 722 & 726."
Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in
their opinion the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable.
