AN ORDINANCE FURTHER AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 32321 AS AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS
THE COUNCIIMANIC DISTRICT ORDINANCE,
BEING SECTION 12 OF CHAPTER 1 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 3232, as amended, being Section
12 of Chapter 1 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, commonly
known as the Councilmanic District Ordinance, be further amended to read
as follows:
"The City is hereby divided into six councilmanic districts
which shall be known as: First District, Second District, Third District,
Fourth District, Fifth District and Sixth District. Such districts are
hereby bounded as follows:
"First District. Beginning at the intersection of the center
line of East Colfax Avenue and the center of the St. Joseph River; thence
west along the center line of Colfax Avenue to the center line of Lafayette
Boulevard; thence north along the center line of Lafayette Boulevard to the
center line of LaSalle Street; thence west along the center line of LaSalle
Street, to the center line of Lincolnway West; thence northwesterly along
the center line of Lincolnway West to the center line of the north -south
alley lying between Elmer and Huey Streets; thence north along the center
line of said alley to the center line of Elwood Avenue; thence west along
the center line of Elwood Avenue to the center line of Bendix Drive; thence
north along the center line of Bendix Drive to the City Limits of South
Bend; thence along the city limits in a generally northerly and easterly
direction to the St. Joseph River; thence generally easterly and southerly
along the city limits to the north right -o£ -way line of the Northern Indiana
Toll Road; thence, continuing along the city limits, westerly along the
north right -of -way line of the Northern Indiana Toll Road to the St. Joseph
River, southerly and southeasterly along the St. Joseph River to the center
line of East Colfax Avenue, the place of beginning.
"Second District. Beginning at the intersection of the center line
of Western Avenue with Lafayette Boulevard; thence north along the center line
of Lafayette Boulevard.to the center line of LaSalle Street; thence west along
the center line of LaSalle Street to the center line of Lincolnway West; thence
northwesterly along the center line of Lincolnway West to the center line of
the north -south alley lying between Elmer and Huey Streets; thence north along
the center line of said alley to the center line of Elwood Avenue; thence west
along the center line of Elwood Avenue to the center line of Bendix Drive;
thence north along the center line of Bendix Drive to the City Limits of South
Bend; thence along the city limits in a generally westerly and southerly
direction to the center line of Western Avenue; thence east along the center
line of Western Avenue to the center line of Olive Street; thence north along
the center line of Olive Street to the center line of the Penn Central Rail-
road tracks; thence southeasterly along the center line of the Penn Central
Railroad tracks to a point where the center line of the alley lying between
Warren and Grant Streets would intersect said railroad tracks if extended
northward; thence south along the said center line projected to the center
line of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad tracks; thence northeasterly along
the center line of said railroad tracks to the center line of Chapin Street;
thence north along the center line of Chapin Street to the center line of
Western Avenue; thence east along the center line of Western Avenue to the
intersection with the center line of Lafayette Boulevard, the place of be-
ginning.
"Third District. Beginning at the intersection of the center of
the St. Joseph River with the center line of Sample Street; thence north-
easterly along the center line of Sample Street to the intersection of the
center lines of Beyer Street and Eddy Street extended south; thence north
along the center line of Eddy Street to the center line of East Jefferson
Boulevard; thence easterly along the center line of East Jefferson Boulevard
to the center line of Greenlawn Avenue; thence north along the center line of
Greenlawn Avenue to the center line of McKinley Avenue; thence east along the
center line of McKinley Avenue to the center line of Logan Street; thence
south along the center line of Logan Street to the center of the St. Joseph
River; thence westerly along the center of the St. Joseph River to the center
of Ironwood Drive; thence south along the center of Ironwood Drive to the
center line of Calvert Street; thence west along the center line of Calvert
Street to the center line of Twyckenham Drive; thence south along the center
of Twyckenham Driven to the center of Donald Street; thence west along the
center of Donald Street to the center of Marine Street; thence north along
the center of Marine Street to the center of the east -west alley lying be-
tween Donald and Bowman Streets; thence west along the center line of said
alley to the center line of Miami Street; thence north along the center line
of Miami Street to the center line of Calvert Street; thence west along the
center line of Calvert Street to the center line of High Street; thence north
along the center line of High Street to the center line of Dayton Street;
thence west along the center line of Dayton Street to the center line of the
north -south alley lying between Fellows Street and Carroll Street; thence
north along the center line of said alley to the center line of Indiana .

easterly along the center line of Sample Street to the intersection of the
center lines of Beyer Street and Eddy Street extended south; thence north
along the center live of Eddy Street to the center line of East Jefferson
Boulevard; thence easterly along the center line of East Jefferson Boulevard
to the center line of Greenlawn Avenue; thence north along the center line of
Greenlawn Avenue to the center line of McKinley Avenue; thence east along
the center line of McKinley Avenue to the center of Logan Street; thence
northerly and westerly along the City Limits of the City of South Bend to the
center of the St. Joseph River; thence southerly and southeasterly along the
center of the St. Joseph River to the center line of Colfax Avenue; thence
west along the center line of Colfax Avenue to the center line of Lafayette
Boulevard; thence south along the center line of Lafayette Boulevard to the
center line of Monroe Street; thence east along the center line of Monroe
Street to the center line of Carroll Street; thence south along the center line
of Carroll Street to the center line of South Street; thence east along the
center line of South Street to the center line of Columbia Street; thence
south along the center line of Columbia Street to the center line of Bronson
Street; thence east along the center line of Bronson Street to the center
line of Lincolnway East; thence northeast along the center line of Edgewater
Drive and said center line extended to the center of the St. Joseph River;
thence southeast along the center of the St. Joseph River to the center line

"Fifth District. Commencing at the intersection of the center
lines of Broadway Street and South Lafayette Boulevard; thence south along
the center line of South Lafayette Boulevard and said center line extended
to the City Limits of the City of South Bend; thence easterly, southerly,
northerly and westerly along said city limits to the intersection of the
center lines of Ironwood Drive and Calvert Street; thence west along the
center line of Calvert Street to the center line of Twyckenham Drive; thence
south along the center of Twyckenham Drive to the center of Donald Street;
thence west along the center of Donald Street to the center of Marine Street;
thence north along the center of Marine Street to the center of the east -west
alley lying between Donald and Bowman Streets; thence west along the center
line of said alley to the center line of Miami Street; thence north along the
center line of Miami Street to the center line of Calvert Street; thence west
along the center line of Calvert Street to the center line of High Street;
thence north along the center line of High Street to the center line of Dayton

"Sixth District. Commencing at the intersection of the center lines
of Broadway Street and South Lafayette Boulevard; thence south along the center
line of South Lafayette Boulevard and said center line extended to the City
Limits of the City of South Bend; thence westerly and northerly along said
city limits to the center line of Western Avenue; thence east along the center
line of Western Avenue to the center line of Olive Street; thence north along
the center line of Olive Street to the center line of the Penn Central Rail-
road tracks; thence southeasterly along the center line of the Penn Central
Railroad tracks to a point where the center line of the alley lying between
Warren and Grant Streets would intersect said railroad tracks if extended
northward; thence south along the said center line projected to the center line
of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad tracks; thence northeasterly along the
center line of said railroad tracks to the center line of Chapin Street; thence
