BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION 1. The measure of Good Government Community Progress 403 LINCOLNWAY WEST, 232 -8264, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 Members of the South Bend Common Council Mrs. Allen and Gentlemen: July 3, 1969 The directors and officers of the South Bend Civic Planning Assn. Inc., following a meeting with the Council Fees and Salaries Committee members, have matte a further study of the salaries proposed for 1970. We recommend the following changes from those proposed by the Council Committee. We recommend: Elimination of the $480. for President of the Council, as a salary item. Controller's salary be set at $15,000 and that he give full time to the position of City Controller and not divide his time for Public Transportation Corporation, City Engineer salary be set at $15,000. the same as we recommended last year. Assistant City Engineer salary 11i000. Project Engineer salary 10,500 Engineer salary 8,400. City Attorney salary be set at $10,000. in view of change proposed for Controller Chief Deputy City Attorney 6,000. Deputy City Attorney 40200. Building Commissioner salary be set at $13,250.00 Street Superintendent salary be set at 11,250.00 Model Cities Program Director salary 15,000.00 Model Cities Asst. Program Director 10,500.00 Manager Morris Auditorium salary 8,700.00 Direct H R& F E P C salary 12,600.00 Park Board members 300.00 Executive Director Urban Redevelopment 16,500.00 (compare with Model Cities Dir.) We recommend also that information be presented showing which positions., other than Controller., Engineer and Attorney, receive a second salary from the utilities or public transportation corporation so that the total salary paid these positions is known. We note there are not any salaries set for positions in the municipal parking facilities scheduled to be completed during 1970. Should not these be included?
