AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING
$90,000 FROM THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND
Statement of Purpose and Intent
The City of South Bend Fire Department wishes to purchase new vehicles for use by the
Battalion Chiefs for supervision of the South Bend Fire Department to fight fires and to benefit
and protect the public more effectively.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the following sum of money is hereby appropriated from the Emergency
Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund (#288) for the purchase of new vehicles:
ACCOUNT NO. DESCRIPTION AMOUNT
288-0902-422-43-09 Fire Department Equipment Fund $90,000.00
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Dear Mr. Kelly:
The attached ordinance will appropriate $ 90,000 from the Emergency Medical Service
Capital Improvement Fund (288) to purchase and equip two (2) command vehicles
for ourtwenty-four (24) hour Riding Chiefs.
These vehicles will replace our current command vehicles which were purchased
in 1994.
Myself and Assistant Chief Rick Switalski will be present at Council Caucus and will
present the bill to the full council. Funds are available and we look forward to this
presentation.
