[SLOUGH CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, IND. March 25, 1970 TO: Members of the Common Council RE: Pumps - Wastewater Treatment Plant FROM: John L. Hunter, Director of Utilities The request for bids to furnish all work and materials for the installation of two sludge pumps was published in the South Bend Tribune and Tri- County News on February 20 and 27, 1970, and referred to the consulting engineer, Clyde E. Williams & Associates, Incorpora- ted, for recommendation. The low bid of $25,325 by E. L. Zimmerman Company, Incorporated was recommended by the engineering firm and a contract entered into on March 16 for this installation. The purpose of these two pumps is to further expand our own digester cleaning process. They will pump heavy grit material to the sludge farm. This supplements other pumps already in service for this purpose. It was found that the ones now.in use can not properly pump this grit to the farm. tj.uuLC4 /John L.
