Re: Vacation of Carlisle Street and Two Parallel Alleys
Dear Mr. Rolland:
On behalf of the City of South Bend and the Board of Public Works, I am submitting a Petition
and Ordinance for the vacation of a portion of Carlisle Street and two adjacent alleys.
These rights-of--way are within the confines of South Bend Fire Station #4. Station #4 was built
on a portion of Carlisle Street. One of the alleys bisects the front yard of Station #4, and the
other alley borders the east property line of Station #4. Vacation of these rights-of--way will
allow the Fire Department to better maintain the property and have greater control over access to
and from the property. It will also permit the disposition of some of the northeast and southeast
corners of the property to be granted to Habitat for Humanity for the construction of four homes.
If you have any questions, please call me at 235-5550.
Sincer y,
