ORDINANCE NO. 5137 -70
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TERRITORY TO THE MUNICIPAL
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, GENERALLY LYING WEST
OF MICHIGAN STREET BETWEEN IRELAND ROAD AND THE
BY -PASS
Be it enacted by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana that:
Section 1 - The following described land, lying adjacent
to and forming a contiguous boundary with the present City Limits
of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, more particularly
described as:
Beginning at the intersection of the west line of the
east one -half (1/2) of Section 26, T37N, R2E, and the north
right-of-way line of Ireland Road (said point being on the
City Limits of the City of South Bend, Indiana); thence south
following the west line of the aforesaid one -half (1/2)
Section a distance of 1650 feet more or less to the inter-
section of the south right -of -way line of the U.S. 31 South
Bend By -Pass; thence easterly and southeasterly following
the south right -of -way line of the U.S. 31 South Bend By -Pass
and the southwest right -of -way of U.S. 31 and the U.S. 31
South Bend By -Pass interchange a distance of 3500 feet more
or less to the intersection of the south section line of
Section 25, T37N, R2E; thence east following the south line
of Section 25, T37N, R2E a distance of 230 feet more or
less to a point of intersection with the right-of-way of
the southeast interchange segment of U.S. 31 and U.S. 31
South Bend By -Pass, thence northeasterly following the
above mentioned interchange right -of -way a distance of 1550
feet more or less to a point of intersection with a line
624 feet west of and parallel to the north and south center-
line of Section 25, T37N, R2E; thence north along the afore-
said line a distance of 225 feet more or less to the south
line of Reasor Street and the northerly right -of -way line
of U.S. 31 interchange, thence northwesterly along the
northerly right -of -way line of U.S. 31 interchange to the
point of intersection with the south line of Callander
Street; thence west along the south line of Callander Street
to the east right -of -way line of U.S. 31; thence northeasterly
along the east line of U.S. 31 to a point 97.25 feet south
and 50 feet east of the center of the intersection of U.S. 31
and Ireland Road; thence northeasterly to a point in the
south right -o£ -way line of Ireland Road and 125 feet east
of the centerline of U.S. 31; thence northerly a distance
of 60 feet to a point in the north right -of -way line of
Ireland Road and 125 feet east of the centerline of U.S. 31;
thence west along the north right -of -way line of Ireland
Road which is the City Limits, a distance of 3490 feet more
or less to the point of beginning, containing approximately
176.9 acres,
be, and the same hereby is, annexed as a part of the Municipal
City of South Bend, Indiana.
Section 2 - This Ordinance is to be in full force and
effect from and after its enactment, the approval of the Mayor,
and its publication according to law.
