ORDINANCE NO. 5159-70
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
AND NORTHERN ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF
LIGHTING IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,556,00.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water Works
of the City of South Bend, Indiana and Northern Electric Construction
Co., Inc. of South Bend, Indiana, on the 2nd day of February 1970,
pursuant to advertising and receipt of bids as the installation of
said lighting is needed in the operation of said Water Works, in the
total amount not to exceed $4,556 is hereby approved and confirmed.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

FROM: John L. Hunter, Director of Utilities
This project was properly advertised in two newspapers on
January 9 and 16, 1970. Bids were received from six companies
and opened on January 19. The bids are as follows:

The bid has been awarded to Northern Electric
Construction Co.,
Inc. as low bidder at $4,556. The bid did conform
to specifica-
tions. The project involves lighting for eight
of our pumping
station locations- -badly in need of protection
against vandalism,
etc. We feel this is necessary to improve the
conditions surround -
ing our plant facilities.
