RE: Chemicals - February 7, 1970 to February 7, 1971
FROM: John L. Hunter, Director of Utilities
The Notice to Bidders appeared in the Tri- County News and South Bend
Tribune on December 12 and 19, 1969. It requested bids for a year's
supply of chemicals. The bids were opened on January 5, 1970 by the
Board of Water Commissioners and referred to our office for recommenda-
tion.
Our recommendations are to award the bid to Inland Chemical Corporation
for all chemicals except the 150 lb. cylinders of liquid chlorine.
These will be awarded to Ashland Chemical Company since Inland Chemical
Corporation made an honest mistake in calculating their bid on this
particular item and requested us to exclude this item from their bid.
The hydrofluosilicic acid (fluoride) is awarded to Inland Chemical
Corporation since their bid includes delivery to the various pumping
stations. Ashland Chemical Company also submitted a bid, but it does
not include transportation from Chicago, Illinois to our pumping

the trans-
porting and, therefore, the bid will
be awarded
to Inland Chemical
Corporation.
