ORDINANCE NO. 5267 -71
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
AND GATES CHEVROLET, INCORPORATED OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) 1971
CHEVROLET VAN TRUCK IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,086.20.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water Works of
the City of South Bend, Indiana and Gates Chevrolet, Incorporated of
South Bend, Indiana, on the 4th day of January 1971, pursuant to
advertising and receipt of bids for the purchase of one (1) 1971
Chevrolet Van Truck in the amount of $2,086.20, is hereby approved
and confirmed,
SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

This unit was bid through the Board of Public Works and Safety. Gates
Chevrolet, Pncorporated submitted the only bid amount to $2,086.20.
A 1967 Chevrolet Van Truck (Unit No. 10) of the same type will be
traded in on this new unit. The old truck has in excess of 60,000
miles and in need of repair. We recommended to the Board of Water
commissioners that they accept this bid. A contract was entered into
on January 4.
This particular unit is used by the Meter Department for their Meter
Replacement Program, meter installations and removals, stop box repairs,
etc.
