WHEREAS, certain extraordinary conditions have developed
since the adoption of the existing annual budget so that it is now
necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the
annual budget for the various functions of City Government to meet
such extraordinary conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Morris Civic Auditorium is heated by steam
heat provided by the Indiana and Michigan Electric Company; and
WHEREAS, steam heat rates were substantially increased
after the adoption of the 1971 budget for Morris Civic Auditorium
and additional funds are needed to pay the heating bills, and to
assure the department's ability to properly perform its functions;
and
WHEREAS, a surplus exists in another account where it is
not presently needed and more specifically as follows; to -wit:
$5,000.00 in Account E -11, "Services Personal ".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of -South Bend, Indiana:
SECTION I. That the sum of $5,000.00 be transferred
from Account E -11, "Services Personal ", and transferred and appropri-
ated to Account K -223, "Heat ", both accounts being within the General
Fund.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, its
approval by the Mayor and the fulfillment of all statutory require-
ments for emergency appropriations.
