ORDINANCE N0, 5284 -71 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND ASHLAND CHEMICAL COMPANY, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE PURCHASE OF CHEMICALS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1971 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1972, IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,840.00. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana and Ashland Chemical Company, South Bend, Indiana, on the 1st day of March 1971, pursuant to advertising and receipt of bids as the purchase of same is required in the operation of said Water Works, in a total quantity and a total cost not to exceed the quantity and cost itemized for chemicals in the amount of $6,840.00, is hereby approved and confirmed: Item No. 1 380 150 lb. cylinders liquid chlorine delivered as needed, F.O.B. Hunter, Director of Utilities Three ordinances are involved in the purchase of chemicals for 1971. ITEM 2 our present supplier. lower in price on each in fittings, etc., for Unit price bid in 1970 Awarded to Inland Chemical Company, our present supplier. Midwest Chlorine is $4 lower on each unit or a total of $40. However using their chemical would require a change in fittings, etc. We. also feel Inland having a local office can ofler us better service. Last year's unit bid was $162. ITEM 3 Awarded to Ashland Chemical Company, a local firm and second lowest bidder. The total difference in the contract is 53 cents per unit or a total of $20I.L60. The unit price of $18 is the same as in 1970. ITEM 4 Awarded to Mid -State Chemical, the low bidder. Cost per ton during 1970 was $105. { y Notice is hereby given that the City of South Bend, Indiana, act; ing through its Board of Water Works Commissioners,will receive sealed bids at the office of the Director of,IUtilities, 224 North Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, until the hour of 3:00 p.m. (EST) on the 18th day of January 1971, for the following:r SUPPLY OF CHEMICALS TO BE ORDERED AS NEEDED FOR A PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1971 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1972. ITEM NO. 2 10 2,000 lb, cylinders of liquid chlorine delivered in single lots, F.O.B. Water Works pumping stations; to be ordered as needed. ITEM N0. 3 380 150 lb. cylinders of liquid chlorine delivered as needed, F.O.B. Water Works pumping stations. ITEM NO'. 4 175 Ton 25% Hydrofluosilicic Acid delivered in tank truck loads. Bidders shall quote price per ton and state applicable stop - off and demurrage charges. Deliveries are estimated as eight tank trucks with two to four stop -offs per load. Supplier must furnish own unloading hose at least 40 feet in length with proper couplings. The Board reserves the right to accept bid as total or by item.
