AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING
$130,000 FROM FUND 201 AND $45,000 FROM FUND
405 FOR CONSTRUCTION COSTS OF THE POTAWATOMI
Z00 HOSPITAL
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The South Bend Parks and Recreation Department has
received additional funding from the Zoological Society of
St. Joseph County by way of donations for the completion of
Potawatomi Zoo's Veterinary Hospital.
This Ordinance authorizes the South Bend Park
Department to use the funds for their designated purpose of
constructing and equipping the veterinary hospital at
Potawatomi Zoo.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows:
Section I. The sum of $130,000 is ordered appropriated
from and set aside within the Parks and Recreation
Operating Fund #201 for the construction of the
veterinary hospital in Potawatomi Zoo in account
201-1101-452.42-02.
Section II. The sum of $45,000 is ordered appropriated
from and set aside within the Parks and Recreation Non-
reverting Capital Fund #405 for the equipping of the
veterinary hospital in Potawatomi Zoo in account
405-1104-452.43-07.
Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council
and approval by the Mayor.

Dear Mr. Kelly:
Attached is a proposed ordinance providing for the appropriation of $175,000 for
the completion of the Potawatomi Zoo's Veterinary Hospital from two funds.
$130,000 is for Fund 201 (Parks and Recreation Operating Fund) for
construction costs and $45,000 for Fund 405 (Parks Non-reverting Capital Fund)
for equipment. These funds have been provided through the gracious donation
of the Zoological Society of St. Joseph Valley for this purpose and have been
received into the respective funds.
Both I and Dr. Jeremy Goodman, zoo veterinarian, will be available at the
presentation to the Common Council to answer any questions.
We ask your favorable consideration on this request. Thank you for your
consideration on this ordinance.
