AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FUNDS WITHIN
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA,
STATEMENT OF PURPOSES AND INTEN ^1
The City of South Bend, Indiana, is in immediate need
of additional pieces of fire fighting equipment. Pursuant to
IC 1971, 18- 1 -6 -15 (Burns 48- 1902), the Board of Public Works
and Safety is authorized to provide for the lease of fire fight-
ing equipment with an option to purchase. The Common Council
hereby determines that in order to provide for the purchase of
the necessary equipment under existing budgetary limitations it
is necessary to enter into the lease - purchase of such fire fighting
equipment over a term of years.
The fire department currently has unencumbered funds
in the amount of $60,000, for budget year 1972 in Account No.
Q -722, "Properties -Motor Equipment ". Said amount is sufficient
to enter into the lease - purchase for the necessary equipment. Said
unencumbered funds are transferred by this Ordinance to Account No.
Q -521 "Current Charges- Rents ".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $60,000, is hereby transferred
from Account No. Q -722, "Properties - ,Motor Equipment" in the 1972
budget of the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana,
to the following Account within said budget of the Fire Depart-
ment:
Current Charges -THREE 3
Q -52 Rents (for lease- purchase of sax (fs-)
pieces of fire - fighting apparatus and equip-
ment over a period not to exceed s4-3t-(6 -) years)
-Tr+Rs c 3
$60,000.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in effect after
adoption by the Common Council, approval by the :Mayor, and ful-
fillment of all statutory requirements.

Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion THE ORDINANCE GO TO
THE COUNCIL AS FAVORABLE, AS AMENDED.
Councilman Nemeth moved to amend the ordinance changing
the number of pieces of equipment to be purchased to
three and the number of years to three. Councilman
Kopczynski seconded the motion and it carried.
