ORDINANCE NO. 5378 -72
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING
ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68 CHAPTER 40 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FORMERLY REFERRED TO
AS ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 AS AMENDED
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
Section 1.
That Zoning Ordinance No. 4990 -68 Chapter 40 of the
Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, formerly
known as Zoning Ordinance No. 3702, be and the same is hereby
amended and supplemented by zoning the following described
property "C -1" Commercial District and "A" Height and Area
District:
A tract of land in the Southwest Quarter (1/4)
of the Southeast Quarter (1/4) of Section 31,
Township 38 North, Range 3 East, described as
follows: Beginning at a.point in the center
line of Edison Road (the centerline of Edison
Road being the present city limits of South
Bend, Indiana), 432.30 feet East of the Southwest
corner of the Southeast Quarter (1/4) of Section 31,
Township 38 North, Range 3 East; thence running
North parallel with the West line of the Southeast
Quarter (1/4) 228.71 feet; thence running East
208.71 feet to a point; thence running South 155.41
feet to a point; thence Southwesterly on a curve
whose radius is 290.28 feet a distance of 64.98
feet to a point 48.5 feet North of the Centerline
of Edison Road; thence South 48.5 feet to the
centerline of Edison Road (the centerline of
Edison Road being the present city limits of
South Bend, Indiana) and a point 150 feet East of the
place of beginning; thence West 150 feet to the
place of beginning.
Section 2.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its enactment, approval by the Mayor and
legal publication.

Re: Zoning ordinance originated by the
Area Plan Commission to zone property
recently annexed to the city of South
Bend and located at 18389 Edison Road.
The attached zoning ordinance originated by the Area
Plan Commission of St. Joseph County was advertised for
public hearing on December 11 and 18, 1971 and a public
hearing was held on Tuesday, December 21, 1971 at which
time the following action was taken:
After due consideration, a motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to recommend
this proposed ordinance for approval to the
Common Council of the City of South Bend.
Excerpts from the minutes of the Area Plan Commission
meeting are attached.
