The Area Plan Commission at its public hearing on October 15, 2002, took the following action: Upon a motion by Charlotte Sobel, being seconded by Tim Walz and unanimously carried, the proposed ordmance initiated by the Common Council of the City of South Bend to rezone the portion of the City of South Bend along the Lincolnway West Commercial Corridor between LaSalle Avenue and Bendix Dr><ve, City of South Bend, as tabled is sent to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation. While the Commission recognizes that further work will need to be done along this corridor in order to achieve overall zoning appropriateness, this rezoning represents a positive first step in that direction. By bringing zoning districts into conformance with the dominant use of certain areas along the corridor, this rezoning should have a positive effect on the corridor and surrounding neighborhoods. PLEASE NOTE that the Ordinance has been amended by the petitioner and is different than that used for the Common Council's first reading. The amended Ordinance was the Ordinance legally advertised and heard by the Area Plan Commission. The deliberations of the Area Plan Commission and points considered in arriving at the above decision aze shown in the minutes of the public hearing, and will be forwarded to you at a later date to be made a part of this report.
