AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER la, SECTION
11 -18, ORDINANCE NUMBERS 3913, § 75 AND
4537 -621 § 3, OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PROVIDING FOR
STANDARDS FOR INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL
EQUIPMENT GENERALLY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
3 SECTION I. That Ordinance Numbers 3913, § 7, and 4537,
being Section 11 -18 of Chapter 11 of the Municipal Code of
the City of South Bend, Indiana, be, and hereby is, amended to
read as follows:
Standards for Installation of
Electrical Equipment Generally
All installations of electrical equipment shall be
reasonably safe to persons and property and in conformity with
the provisions of this chapter and the applicable statutes of
the state.
Conformity of installations of electrical equipment
with this chapter and with applicable regulations set forth in
the National Electrical Code of 1971 or electrical provisions
of other safety codes which have been approved by the American
Standards Association, shall be prima facie evidence that such
installations are reasonably safe to persons and property.
The electrical inspector shall permit trial installa-
tions of new methods of installing electrical equipment.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council,
its approval by the Mayor and publication as required by law.
