AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
WATER WORKS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND RANS-
BERGER'S, INC., OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR
CLEANING AND PAINTING OF THE 250,000 GALLON
ELEVATED STEEL WATER STORAGE TANK AT THE SOUTH
FELLOWS STREET BOOSTER STATION, IN THE AMOUNT
OF $7,245.00.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the contract entered into between the Water Works
of South Bend, Indiana and Ransberger's, Inc., of South Bend, Indiana
for the cleaning and painting of the 250,000 gallon elevated steel
water storage tank at the South Fellows Street Booster Station, in
the amount of $1,245.00, is hereby approved and confirmed.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor.

FROM: John L. Hunter, Director of Utilities
RE: Elevated Storage Tank - South Fellows Street Station
This ordinance requests your approval of a contract with Ransberger's,
Inc. for the cleaning and painting of the elevated water storage tank
at the South Fellows Street Booster Station. Advertisement for bids
appeared in two newspapers on July 2 and 9, 1971. Bids were received
on July 19, 1971 as follows:
Rogers Industrial Painters
Goshen, Indiana $7,255.00
Ransberger's, Inc.
South Bend, Indiana 7,245.00
Both bids were acceptable. We recommended that the Board approve the
bid of Ransberger's, Inc. since they are the low bidder.
Cleaning and painting will be done to both the interior and exterior
surfaces of the tank. Specifications outlined the procedures to
follow in accordance with the American Water Works Association standards.
It is necessary to maintain this tank to assure safe and clean water
for our customers and is a regular part of the maintenance program.
