Seals Chief of Police November 6, 1972 Common Council 441 County -City Building 227 West Jefferson Blvd. South Bend, Indiana 46601 Gentlemen: I would like to request the following budget transfer: From P -12 Services Personal to P -262, Medical, Surgical, and Dental the amount of $2,500.00 Medical expenses for officers injured in the line of duty have been increasing and are averaging in excess of $400.00 per month at the present time. Account P -262 has a negative balance of $597.81 at the present time and bills yet to be submitted total $1,411.87. Your consideration and approval of this request will permit us to enter the 1973 budget year financially sound. Respectfully, , Robert W. Seals Chief of Police RWS:hkm NO. 5461 -72 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.00 FROM ACCOUNT P -12, "SERVICES PERSONAL" TO ACCOUNT P -262, "MEDICAL, SURGICAL & DENTAL ", BOTH ACCOUNTS BEING WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND. WHEREAS, certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget so that it is now necessary to appropriate more money that was appropriated in the annual budget for the various functions of City Govern- ment to meet such extraordinary conditions; and WHEREAS, additional funds are needed by the South Bend Police Department for medical, surgical and dental expenses, and to assure that department's ability to properly perform its functions; and WHEREAS, a surplus exists in another account where it is not presently needed and more specifically as follows, to -wit $2,500.00 in Account P -12, "Services Personal" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION I. That the sum of $2,500.00 be transferred from Account P -12, "Services Personal" to Account P -262, "Medical, Surgical and Dental" in the Police Department Budget, both accounts being within the General Fund. SECTION II.
